1793 Cent Stars in Stack’s Bowers Sale

In conjunction with the newly announced PCGS Members Only Show, Stack's Bowers Galleries will stage a U.S. and international coin and paper money auction live Aug. 5-7 at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas

Auctions begin with paper money on Aug. 5. World money will be covered in Session A at 9 a.m. PST. Session 1 US paper money will be auctioned at 3 p.m. the same day.

A full day of auctions will begin on Aug. 6 with Session B, ancient coins, at 9 a.m. and Session C, world coins, at 1 p.m. Day will end with the firm's Rarities Night (Session 2) at 2 p.m. The August 2020 Rarities Night will include the ESM Collection of US Large Cents and Fairmont Collection selections.

Lot 1006, a 1793 Flowing Hair cent with Wreath Reverse, is a U.S. currency star. PCGS graded it VG-10, Stack's Bowers says it's the best of four.

Also noteworthy is Lot 1184, an 1828 Capped Bust quarter. Stack's Bowers believes it is the finest known sample, graded MS-67 by NGC. Lot 1320 is an 1851 Augustus Humbert $50 with a reeded edge and “887 THOUS”. PCGS grades it MS-64.

Lot 1330 is a gold ingot from the S.S. Central America treasure. Serial number 6536 is a 14.70-ounce Harris, Marchand & Company ingot of.731 fine gold.
