Democrats in Texas border city ravaged by immigration turn to Trump. (PART-2)

Recent months have seen the president toughen his border stance and criticize Republicans for failing to approve immigration enforcement funding and authority legislation. 

His campaign portrays Trump as callous for stating he would seek historical deportations and trying to thwart border measures for political gain. Some Eagle Pass residents are dissatisfied with the border situation, and the immigration issue could provide Republicans who have tried to win Latinos in Texas and other states a chance.

Her district has farms and other crossing points for migrants and a Texas National Guard post.

Ramos, 56, said homeowners complain that migrants charge their phones on their porches and unlock ranch gates to let animals out.

We've dealt with this for two years. We're exhausted "she said. "I get all the complaints from my constituents, I ask for help, and we don't get it."

Whether border dissatisfaction will sway other Democratic voters in Eagle Pass and neighboring regions is unclear.

Jesus "Jesse" Becerra, a 72-year-old Democrat running for county constable, prefers Republican Nikki Haley, who has lost to Trump in all five Republican nomination races. He would choose Biden in a rematch with Trump.

After Trump opposed border legislation, Republicans rejected it, Becerra said.
